The company was started by its former owners, in 1987. It operated under the name of Leisure Tan and was based near Ironbridge, Shropshire for many years. The company manufactured sunbeds for sale both to private customers and other sunbed companies. They also had their own fleet of sunbeds for hire. With the directors thinking ahead, it was forseen that there would be a time when circumstances would mean alterations to the company staff and structure. The desicion was made to change its name in 1997 to Scantech Ltd. and a regular contractor was engaged to carry out much of the day to day work. The company expolored different avenues of business, but the core activity remained sunbeds. It was decided to concentrate on sunbeds for home use, rather than venture into commercial units. Further development of products followed and our first vertical sunbed for use in the home hire market appeared in late 2000.The founders of the company decided to retire early in 2007 and operational control was taken on by the contractor, who has has worked on many projects and had close ties with the company since the mid 1990's. The company moved to Madeley, Telford - where we still work from Today.
